Our History

The Marietta Band was started in 1942 by Dr. Darden Rumble, an aviation and general sciences teacher at Marietta High School.  The initial band included a small group of musically interested students, with no former band experience.  The quality and quantity of students continued to increase and in 1944 their efforts were rewarded with the first official uniforms, described at the time as resplendent blue and white.
