This past Friday, September 20, was a special night under the stadium lights. Our Blue Devil Marching Band welcomed the Marietta Middle School 8th grade band to join them at Fan Fest before the game, in the stands during the game, and on the field at halftime for an evening full of music, spirit, and tradition as the Blue Devils took the field.

The annual 8th Grade Night has quickly become one of our favorite events of the season. It’s more than just a chance for middle school students to experience the energy of a Blue Devils football game—it’s an opportunity to spark excitement for marching band and to show them what they have to look forward to in the years ahead.
For our freshmen, the night felt full-circle. Just a year ago, they were the 8th graders stepping nervously into the stadium, wondering what it would be like to march in high school. This year, they proudly served as mentors—helping younger students feel welcome, guiding them through the music, and sharing in the thrill of performing for a crowd. Parents commented on how proud they were to see their students step into this leadership role, with confidence and joy written all over their faces.

Adding to the excitement, the marching band debuted their full uniforms for the first time this season. Standing tall in their new look, our students carried themselves with an extra spark of pride, showing the 8th graders just how special it is to be part of the Blue Devils band family.
Nights like this remind us that marching band is about so much more than notes and drills—it’s about connection, mentorship, and building something bigger than ourselves. With the 8th graders already catching the spirit, the future of the Blue Devils Marching Band looks brighter than ever.
